Self-care Can Get You In or Out of Your Feelings

Reason number 34 why I decided to make self-care a priority this year is…

Self-care can get you in or out of your feelings.

I’ll be the first to admit that feelings are something I process with people on a daily basis, but when it comes to processing one’s own feelings it’s not always an easy fete.  Feelings and emotions are a commonality of all humans regardless of race or religion.

There are times in life whether good or bad that we will experience multiple feelings at the same time.  This can be a very difficult for the mind to process feeling sad, but at the same time feeling joyful.  I’ve learned that sometimes it’s best to just feel.  Whatever the feeling is, feel it for whatever it is.  Sometimes when we try to process everything we just get more confused.  Feel what you feel.  When you are no longer “in your feelings” then try to process where those feelings came from.  There is no right or wrong feeling.  They are all things we experience at some point in life if we are living.

It is okay to be in your feelings.  It shows that you are human and sometimes we need to remind ourselves of that simple truth…we are human.  Period.

We all are going to make mistakes.  We are all going to have good days.  We are all going to have bad days.  Say it with me “WE ARE HUMAN.”

Acknowledge and honor your feelings as they come. Through self-care, you can create a safe space  to accept your feelings without judgement from others.  If you are sad, you can be sad, but through self-care you will know how to get out of being sad and move towards happy when you are ready. Self-care gives you the tools you need to be unapologetically in your feelings while also giving you the resources to get out of your feelings (if that is needed).  Self-care can also allow you to experience feelings of joy and calmness.  Stay there and enjoy the positive effects on your mood all by practicing self-care.

Self-care loves you.  Self-care is riding.  Self-care will never ever leave from beside you.  Self-care wants you.  Self-care needs you.  Self-care is down for you always.

All self-care needs is a little bit of your time and attention. Get in your feelings this week with self-care.

Be well,

Sonya
