No Excuses

“He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.” —Benjamin Franklin

We are gathered here today, to lay to rest some of the words and “explanations” that are holding us back from doing the things we know we ought to do.  The things that bring us joy.  The things that make us laugh.  The things the give us life.  The things we have forgotten or neglected due to excuses.  The things we have told ourselves we don’t have time for yet when our iPhone report comes out weekly we are averaging 5 or more hours of day of screen time just on our phone.  Yet, we know what is going on in every celebs life and are up to date on every web series, reality show and documentary.

There is nothing wrong with using your phone or watching television, but we must learn that balance is found in moderation.

Where are you spending your time?   How are you spending your time?

Excuse: a reason or explanation put forward to defend or justify a fault or offense.

Anytime you think about uttering an excuse, I want you to stop and ask yourself the following questions?

  1. What am I avoiding?
  2. Why am I avoiding this?
  3. When will I take the next step to complete this task?

I’ve found on my self-care journey times in which I would make excuses for not making myself or my wellness a priority.  I have heard so many people tell me how they wish they had time for self-care, but they have to insert excuse.  I’m not here to discredit anyone’s roles or responsibilities, but then again we really have to go back to the three questions above.

Is time with yourself really that bad?  Are you afraid of yourself?  Would you know what to do?

All of these questions can help you gain more insight on the barriers that are present that are preventing you from making self-care a priority in your life.

Why are you avoiding self-care?

When will you take the next step to practice self-care?

Remember…no excuses.

If you need support with taking that next step, just ask. Feel free to reach out to me via email. I’m rooting for you!

Be well,
