Self-Care Gives Me Time to Think

Reason number 10 why I am making self-care a priority in my life is because….

Self-care gives me time to think.

How often do you find yourself being able to sit without distractions of noise?

Oftentimes, we can find ourselves so busy doing activities or engaged in day to day routines that we rarely stop to sit, think and process all that is happening in our lives.

This time to process is essential to me.  Surprisingly, this has become my new self-care normal.  I have grown comfortable in stillness and silence.  This time allows me the opportunity to acknowledge my feelings for what they are and then decide what my next step will be.  If I like the feeling great.  If I don’t like the feeling then I work on changing my thoughts or actions that brought upon that feeling.

This time to think can be done on your own terms or if you need a safe and structured setting to think without distractions I would recommend finding a therapist that works for you.

I find peace when I make the time to sit and think.  Depending on the nature of the thoughts, it might take longer to find peace, but I eventually get there over time and sometimes it requires support from others.

I want to challenge you this week to make some time to think without the noise of people, television or music.   I’m interested in hearing how this exercise went for you.  Feel free to comment and let me know.

Be well.
