Self-care is Spiritual

Reason number 42 why I decided to make self-care a priority this year…

Self-care is spiritual.

“To walk the spiritual path is to continually step out into the unknown.” – Wallace Huey

The three components of wellness are mind, body and spirit.  Through my self-care journey this year, I have found new ways to honor each component.  To be honest, the one that I have focused on the most is my spirit.

I am a believer in God and in Jesus Christ.  In the beginning of this year, I decided to do something different.  I decided to walk boldly in my faith.  I decided that I would be consistent in my morning meditation time where I sit, read my devotional, pray, meditation on my intentions for life and prioritize my day.  Let me tell you, my life has been transformed.

Last week, I tweeted, “I long for the silence and the stillness of the morning.  This is my absolute favorite time of the day.  I am able to sit, reflect and set intentions before being bombarded by the demands of others.”

This is something that I really continue to feel in my spirit; the longing and desire to tap into and develop my spirituality.  This is my daily self-care.  My top three priorities of the day include:

  1. Waking up.
  2. Thanking God.
  3. Praying and Mediating.

The challenge I have worked on this year is being still long enough to receive whatever I need to get me through not only this day, but whatever it is I need to prepare for the next level of where life takes me.

This is self-care and it is spiritual.

This year has been one of stepping out on faith (or the unknown).  Over the past few weeks, I have written how self-care makes us fearless and patient for the next thing.  I believe the spiritual connection is the way to cultivate fearlessness while being patient for the next thing.  You must be connected to your inner spirit.  That inner spirit should also be connected to a greater power.  This is how it gets its power.

Power is the fuel you need.  Power is necessary to go forward.  Power is needed to remain strong in the face of adversity.  Power is what you get when you plug into the source which I so happen to believe is your spirituality.

Continue to keep the faith.  Continue to embrace the unknown.  Continue to surrender to the process.  Continue to plug into the source.  Continue to practice self-care.  Continue.

Be well.
