Self-care is Reflective

Reason number 45 why I decided to make self-care a priority this year is….

Self-care is reflective.

As we near the end of the year, I have already started the process of reflecting on 2018.  2018 has been a year of growth for me in all areas of my life.  If you have been following me and my blog all year, then you know that I started 2018 off with the mission to be more intentional this year especially as it relates to self-care.  Was I perfectly consistent? Absolutely not!  However, I gave myself enough grace to start over as many times as I needed to continue my journey.

I have made it my business to put myself first, not in a selfish manner, but in a manner in which I could show up each and every day being the best version of myself not only for my benefit, but for the benefit of those around me.  This week, I started the process of reviewing my year.  I say process because giving 5-10 minutes of reflection does not do justice for 11 months of life.  While reflecting, I experienced an overwhelming sense of gratitude.

I am grateful for all of the lessons have learned and I am still learning this year.  I have always been an introspective individual, but this year of self-care has made me more in tune with myself than I’ve ever been.  In turn, I am gaining more clarity and confidence regarding the person I am becoming.  For this I’m grateful.

Have you made self-care a priority this year?  If you haven’t let me encourage you by letting you know that it is not too late.  Make self-care a priority in December.  You owe it to yourself and everyone else.

I encourage you to write down one thing you will do consistently in December in an effort to practice self-care.  Write it.  Reflect on it daily.  Do it.

Be well,

Sonya
