Self-Care is the Best Care

Reason number 52 why I decided to make self-care a priority in 2018 is….

Self-care is the best care.

Self-care is the best care is a phrase that I have been repeating to myself and others for years now.  It rhymes and it’s catchy.  Plus, when you think about it, who wouldn’t want the BEST care?  Nobody that I know…

52 weeks ago, I started the year with a personal challenge to give my community a different perspective on the meaning of self-care.  I wanted to demonstrate through my own personal journey how I discovered new ways to participate in self-care and new lessons learned from my practice.

In 52 weeks, I have grown my own personal practice.  Was I perfect?  You know the answer is no, but did I let my imperfections stop me? Absolutely not.

Above all else, self-care has been my saving grace more times than not this year.  Self-care has stretched me in ways that I didn’t even know I could be stretched. It was a year of good stretching. I needed to make more room for the person I was becoming and the blessing that were coming my way.  I needed to grow.  I needed to go into places and spaces that I didn’t even know existed. I needed to glow and radiate my light in the world and in spaces where darkness existed.  In order to do all this and more, I needed my cup to stay full.  Pouring into myself allowed me to be present and ready to pour into others when the timing was right.

2018 was my year of living intentionally.  The number 18 is association with prospering.  This was true for me.  It is my desire that this self-care practice continues to grow and stretch me.  I am confident that the best is yet to come.  I am grateful for what has come, but expectant to see some other visions that I have come to fruition.

I hope you enjoyed this self-care journey with me.  I would love to hear about your journey or what you received from reading my posts in 2018.  Feel free to go back and review them all on the website and let me know which one (or ones) resonated the most with you.

I am committed to encouraging you to make self-care a priority in your life.  What will it take for you to accept your own personal challenge and start making self-care a priority?

Self-care is the best care.

Be well,

Sonya
