Self-care Reset

There are times in our lives where life is doing what life does- keeping you on your toes.  It is easy to get thrown off your carefully curated self-care plan, routine or task list. If we are being honest, it’s going to happen and it’s going to happen often.  I hate to break it to you, but you do not have as much control as you think.

Nonetheless, it’s okay.  I repeat it’s okay.  You can always control how you respond and move forward. Be cautious of getting comfortable with the idea that since you do not seem to be able to ever complete your to-do list you should stop trying.

Is it frustrating when your plans change due to circumstances outside of your control?  Absolutely!   It is important to feel the feeling, but not stay there.  Yes, you can be frustrated and you can also rebound, reset and reschedule.

Is it time for you to reset?  If you are unsure, here are a few indicators that it may be time to pause and reset.

  • Feeling frustrated
  • Feeling irritable
  • Feeling stagnant
  • Feeling defeated

If you answered yes, keep reading.  If you answered no, keep reading because trust me, the time will come.

3 Tips to Rebound, Reset & Reschedule

  1. Rebound- Pause and acknowledge where you are
  2. Reset- Map out where you would like to be and adjust how you are going to get there if needed
  3. Reschedule- Try again and again and again until you complete the goal

A big portion of self-care is what I like to call self-grace.  I see self-grace as allowing yourself to be human, to make mistakes, but not attaching those short-comings to your identity.  You are more than that one experience.  Zoom out and view yourself in its entirety.

Do you need a self-care reset? Try again and schedule some time this week to be intentional about  doing something that enhances your mental, physical, spiritual or emotional well-being.
